Celebrating 25 Years of Test Status at Riya Gope Women’s Sports Complex

A special event was held today Wednesday (25 June 2025) at the Riya Gope Women’s Sports Complex in Dhanmondi to mark the 25th anniversary of Bangladesh’s elevation to Test cricket status.

The opening ceremony was graced by key figures from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), including BCB President Md Aminul Islam, Vice President Nazmul Abedeen, and CEO Nizam Uddin Chowdhury. Officials of the Women’s Sports Complex were also in attendance.

The speakers reflected on Bangladesh’s journey in Test cricket over the past 25 years, highlighting milestones, challenges, and aspirations for the future. They also emphasized the growing role of women’s cricket and the importance of facilities like the Riya Gope Complex in nurturing future talent.

The day’s celebration featured a vibrant parade, a commemorative publication launch, exhibition matches involving young and female cricketers, and sports-themed discussions.
