A courtesy call was held by British High Commissioner in Dhaka, Ms. Sarah Cook, with Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman. The meeting took place at 9:30 am on Sunday (January 25, 2026) at the Ameer-e-Jamaat’s office in Bashundhara, the capital.
British High Commission Deputy High Commissioner Mr. James Goldman, Head of Political Mr. Timothy Duckett and Second Secretary (Political) Ms. Kate Ward were present during the meeting.

In this meeting, which was held in a very cordial and cordial atmosphere, various aspects of conducting the 13th National Assembly elections in Bangladesh in a free, fair and acceptable manner were discussed openly. In addition, views were also exchanged on various issues of mutual interest to both countries.

In the meeting, both sides expressed hope that through a participatory and acceptable election, democracy and democratic institutions in Bangladesh will be further strengthened.
In addition, both sides expressed hope that the long-standing friendly relations, trade and mutual cooperation between Bangladesh and the United Kingdom will be further expanded and dynamic in the future.
During the meeting, Ameer-e-Jamaat Dr. Shafiqur Rahman was also present along with Assistant Secretary General and Head of Central Publicity and Media Department Advocate Ehsanul Mahbub Zubair, Central Executive Council Member Mr. Mubarak Hossain and Foreign Affairs Advisor to Ameer-e-Jamaat Professor Dr. Mahmudul Hasan.
