BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has urged all stakeholders to unite for the restoration of democracy in Bangladesh, warning against ongoing conspiracies by anti-democratic forces.

Speaking virtually from London at the opening session of the BNP’s extended meeting held at the LD Hall and Ground premises of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban in the capital on Thursday (February 27, 2025), he stressed unity in the fight against authoritarian rule. “Our struggle is not over. Anti-democratic forces are still conspiring. We have to unite to build a truly democratic Bangladesh,” he said.

BNP’s Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, also addressing the meeting virtually, warned of efforts to disrupt national unity. “The sacrifices of thousands have paved the way for rebuilding Bangladesh after the departure of the fascist Hasina regime. However, conspiracies to sabotage this process have begun,” he stated.
Calling on all sectors, including farmers, workers, and professionals, Tarique Rahman urged vigilance against these threats. He also stressed that BNP has always pursued necessary political and governmental reforms based on public aspirations.

The meeting began with a minute of silence in memory of those who sacrificed their lives in the democratic movement. BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir stated, “Since the August 5 change, people had high hopes. They believed that the fall of the fascist Hasina regime would bring transformation. However, we are still waiting for clear directives.”
BNP leaders discussed the current political landscape and outlined future strategies, reaffirming their commitment to restoring democracy in Bangladesh.
