BNP to give ‘family cards’ to 40 million families if it comes to power: Tarique Rahman

Own Correspondent:

If BNP comes to power, party chairman Tarique Rahman has announced that ‘family cards’ will be given to 40 million families in the country.

He made this announcement at a program titled ‘The Plan: Youth Policy Talk with Tarique Rahman’ organized in Sylhet on Thursday (January 22, 2026) morning. The BNP chairman answered various questions from the youth participating in the program.

Tarique Rahman said that the proposed ‘family card’ will be issued mainly in the name of the head of the family, who plays an important role in running the family. He also mentioned that through this, women will be further empowered in making financial decisions for the family.

Highlighting the benefits of the family card, he said that each family will be given a monthly cash assistance of Tk 2,000 to Tk 2,500. Along with this, there will also be a provision for supplying essential food items.
