BIDA organizes workshop on investment-friendly digital services and local industrialization potential in Bhaluka

On Saturday (17 May 2025), a day-long workshop titled “Inclusion of Trade License Services in Investment Development and OSS Platform” was held at the Bhaluka Upazila Parishad Auditorium in Mymensingh district, organized by Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) and in collaboration with Bhaluka Upazila Administration. In this, detailed discussions were held on investment-friendly digital services and local industrialization prospects.

The chief guest of the workshop was Mr. Md. Rezaul Maksud Zahedi, Secretary of the Local Government Department. He said, “There are currently more than 325 small, medium and heavy industrial enterprises in Bhaluka, where investments of about 4 thousand crore taka have already been completed. There is huge potential for industrial expansion and joint/foreign investment here.” He urged local entrepreneurs to be more active and assured, “Government institutions are by your side.”

The workshop was presided over by BIDA Executive Member Dr. Khandaker Azizul Islam. He said, “Bida One Stop Service (OSS) platform is currently the largest inter-institutional digital service system in the country, which includes 134 services of 44 government organizations. Investors can avail these services at low cost from the comfort of their homes.” He further said, “In addition to domestic investment, Bida is also paying special attention to increasing foreign direct investment (FDI).” During this time, he exchanged views with entrepreneurs of Mymensingh and answered their various questions.

Speaking as a special guest, Mymensingh Deputy Commissioner Mr. Mufidul Alam said, “About 6.6 million people live in 13 upazilas and 10 municipalities of the district, but large industries have not been developed yet. There is no alternative to investment to ensure proper utilization of this manpower.” He urged investors to invest in Mymensingh.

The welcome address was given by BIDA Mymensingh Division Director John Kennedy Jambil and a video related to the OSS platform was presented by BIDA Director General Jiban Krishna Saha Roy.

Additional DIG of Mymensingh Range Md. Abu Bakr Siddiqui, Industrial Police Superintendent Fakhranjaman Jewel and Bhaluka Municipality BNP President Alhaj Hatem Khan also spoke.

Officials of various government institutions related to investment, local entrepreneurs and media personnel participated in the workshop. The program was moderated by BIDA Deputy Director Md. Jahangir Alam.
