Syed Sultan Uddin Ahmed, the head of the Labour Reform Commission formed by the interim government of Bangladesh, held a meeting with Anwar Hossain, the Administrator of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), at the BGMEA Complex in Dhaka on Saturday (15 March, 2025).
The meeting, which also included members of the Commission, BGMEA Support Committee members, and association leaders, focused on discussing necessary reforms to ensure labour rights and improve worker welfare in the country.
During the meeting, the BGMEA Administrator highlighted the progress the industry has made in areas such as workplace safety, workers’ rights, labor law reforms, and environmental sustainability.
He also reiterated the industry’s commitment to continued collaboration, working towards a more sustainable and worker-friendly future for Bangladesh’s ready-made garment sector.
