The State Minister made these remarks on Monday (September 28, 2026) at a press conference organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding Prime Minister Tareq Rahman’s participation in the 81st session of the UN General Assembly.
Humayun Kabir said that the Prime Minister’s visit not only highlighted the new government’s commitments and expectations on the global stage but also created a vital opportunity to expand both bilateral and multilateral cooperation.

Notably, he delivered a historic speech at the General Assembly session. Additionally, he spoke at seven high-level meetings, held bilateral meetings with 11 countries, and met with top officials from 10 international organizations, including the UN.
He mentioned that dignitaries participating in the various meetings and bilateral discussions expressed their support for Bangladesh’s new democratic journey.
Humayun Kabir further added that through this visit, the Prime Minister—elected by the people after a long hiatus—has elevated Bangladesh’s self-confidence, honor, and dignity to new heights on the global stage.
Responding to questions from journalists about the agreement with the United States to purchase Boeing aircraft, the State Minister stated that the deal has been finalized and signed in an open setting. He noted that US President Donald Trump and four ministers from Bangladesh were present at the signing ceremony.
He explained that the Boeing aircraft are being purchased based on Bangladesh’s specific needs and requirements. Historically, Bangladesh has utilized heavy Boeing aircraft; however, a mixed fleet is necessary for the future expansion of the country’s aviation sector. The State Minister for Foreign Affairs stated that to launch new routes and transform Bangladesh into an aviation hub in the twenty-first century, it is essential to have diversity in the country’s aircraft fleet.
