President Md. Sahabuddin welcomed the Bangla New Year 1433 and extended his heartfelt greetings and warm wishes to all Bengali-speaking people around the world, including the countrymen, on the occasion of Pohela Baishakh.
In a message, the President said, the Bangla New Year is a universal festival of our lives. It is a shining example of the unity, harmony and non-communal spirit of the nation. Forgetting the differences of caste, religion and color, Pohela Baishakh has been established as a unique day of joy and unity for everyone.
He mentioned that the importance of this festival as the bearer of our glorious tradition, rich culture and identity is immense. The arrival of Boishakh awakens new hopes, promises and dreams of possibilities in people’s lives. He called for leaving the sorrows and failures of the past behind and moving forward with new enthusiasm.
The President said that a new path of democracy has begun in the country through a free, fair and acceptable election. Within a short period of time, the government is implementing various public welfare-oriented and visionary programs. He mentioned the launch of the ‘Krishak Card’ program on Pohela Boishakh as a groundbreaking step in the historical continuity of the introduction of the harvest year during the Mughal period in the context of agriculture-based Bangladesh. He also expressed hope that this initiative will play an important role in the development of the agricultural sector and the improvement of the living standards of farmers.
Mentioning various challenges in the current global reality, the President said that in this situation, everyone will have to be more restrained, patient and responsible. He expressed strong hope that the country will face all challenges through collective efforts, honesty and dedication and develop into a developed, prosperous and humane state.
Wishing happiness, peace and prosperity in individual and national life in the new year, the President said, in this joyful moment of the New Year, may all evil forces be dispelled and may the triumphant cry of truth and beauty resound everywhere. May the sorrows and pains of the outgoing year be erased and the new year bring unending happiness, peace and prosperity.
At this time, he called on the countrymen to further strengthen the bonds of mutual respect, harmony and compassion and build a non-communal, united and just society by forgetting differences.
