Bangladesh Shows Interest in Bhutan’s Gelephu Mindfulness City Initiative

Ambassador Jonathan Tow, Chief of International Affairs of Gelephu Mindfulness City (GMC) of Bhutan called on the State Minister for Foreign Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday (4 May, 2026).

During the meeting, Ambassador Tow briefed the State Minister on the GMC, which embodies the vision of His Majesty the King of Bhutan to establish an oasis of mindfulness and prosperity under the concept of “One Country, Two Systems,” aimed at creating a vibrant and sustainable economic hub through a conducive business environment and attractive incentives. The State Minister appreciated the visionary leadership of His Majesty The King of Bhutan and commended the holistic approach underpinning the development of GMC.

The State Minister expressed Bangladesh’s keen interest to participate at this great initiative. Both sides discussed potential avenues for cooperation with the GMC, including the employment of skilled professionals from Bangladesh and investment opportunities in GMC. They agreed to continue exploring concrete modalities for Bangladesh’s engagement with the GMC.
