Bangladesh has participated in the 21st edition of the Malaysia International Halal Showcase (MIHAS), known as the world’s largest halal exhibition. The four-day fair is being held from 17-20 September 2025 at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) under the initiative and management of the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB), Bangladesh and in coordination with the Bangladesh High Commission, Kuala Lumpur.

A total of eight industrial organizations and the Bangladesh-Malaysia Chamber of Commerce and Industries from Bangladesh are participating in the exhibition. Various exportable products including ready-made garments, ceramic products, medicines, leather and leather products, plastic products are being displayed at the joint booth of EPB and Bangladesh High Commission. In addition, visitors are being informed about the potential sectors of Bangladesh through documentary screenings and distribution of pamphlets.

Global Capsules Limited, Golden Plus Food and Beverage Limited, Apex Convenience Foods Limited, KMR Kraft, Remark HB Limited, New Zealand Dairy Products Bangladesh Limited, MNL Designer Zone, Gorgeous with Trend and Nowris Foods Limited are participating from Bangladesh in the food and beverage, leather and leather products, pharmaceuticals, household and personal care, cosmetics and ready-made garments categories. In addition, the guests also visited the stalls of Bangladeshi organizations operating locally in Malaysia, PRAN and Agroverse Limited (MOITTRY).

On the opening day of the fair on Wednesday (September 17), EPB Director General-1 Baby Rani Karmakar and Acting High Commissioner of Bangladesh High Commission Mosammat Shahanara Monika inaugurated the Bangladesh Pavilion. At that time, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce Muhammad Rehan Uddin, Senior Director of Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (Metrade) S. Jaishankar, Director of event organization Cube Integrated Malaysia Younis Latif, President of Bangladesh-Malaysia Chamber Sabbir A Khan and representatives of various institutions and organizations were present.

Later, the guests visited the Bangladeshi stalls and talked to the businessmen. They gave suggestions for expanding the market of Bangladeshi products in Malaysia and assured government support. EPB Director General-1 said that this is the third time Bangladesh has participated in the Malaysia International Halal Showcase. In the context of the growing demand for Bangladeshi products, EPB is working to expand the market in the ASEAN region and more institutions will be encouraged to participate in such international fairs in the future.

The Acting High Commissioner congratulated the industrial institutions of Bangladesh and mentioned the various initiatives of the High Commission to expand trade and commerce. He further said that during the recent visit of Honorable Principal Advisor Professor Muhammad Yunus to Malaysia, a proposal for the development of the halal sector and undertaking joint projects was presented to the relevant ministries and departments of Malaysia.

On the sidelines of the fair, representatives of EPB and the High Commission held a meeting with the Chief Executive Officer of Malaysia’s Halal Development Corporation Berhad (HDC) Hyrol Arifin Sahari, Senior Director of Mettrade S. Jaishankar and various business representatives of Malaysia. At that time, they invited them to participate in the “Global Sourcing Expo 2025” to be held in Dhaka from 1-3 December 2025.
It is worth noting that 1,019 companies from 39 countries of the world participated in this year’s fair through 2,380 booths in a total of 14 clusters including food and beverages, modest fashion, food technology and packaging, pharmaceuticals, e-commerce, Islamic finance and fintech. The Malaysian Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry and Metrade are the organizers of the exhibition, with Halal Development Corporation Berhad (HDC) and Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) acting as supporting agencies.
