Bangladesh National Day was celebrated with grandeur at MAHSA University, Malaysia, as part of the University’s International Open Day. The event showcased the vibrant talent of Bangladeshi students studying in various disciplines at this prestigious institution.

The High Commissioner of Bangladesh to Malaysia, Mr. Md. Shameem Ahsan, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Upon his arrival, he was warmly received by Professor Emeritus Dato’ Dr. Ikram Shah bin Ismail, Vice Chancellor of MAHSA University, along with other senior university officials. In his welcome remarks, the Vice Chancellor commended the outstanding academic achievements of Bangladeshi students and their contributions to the university.

In his address, the High Commissioner expressed his gratitude to MAHSA University for accommodating over a hundred Bangladeshi students. He highlighted the role these students play in fostering strong Bangladesh-Malaysia bilateral relations and strengthening the bonds between the two communities. Referring to the recent visit of Malaysian Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim to Dhaka at the invitation of Hon’ble Chief Advisor H.E. Professor Muhammad Yunus, he emphasized the growing interest in expanding cooperation in education. He assured that the Bangladesh High Commission would continue working closely with Malaysian universities and other stakeholders to facilitate student, faculty, and researcher exchanges for mutual academic and professional benefits.

A key highlight of the celebration was a captivating cultural performance by Bangladeshi students, featuring traditional Bangla songs, dances, poetry recitations, and a display of Bangladesh’s natural beauty and attire. The High Commissioner applauded the students for their impressive performance and reassured them of the Mission’s unwavering support for their welfare.

Following the cultural event, the CEO of MAHSA University accompanied the High Commissioner on a visit to the newly built MAHSA Hospital. During the tour, he introduced the state-of-the-art facilities available at the hospital. The university also hosted a special Bangladeshi-style Iftar in honor of the High Commissioner.

Ms. Mosammat Shahanara Monica, Minister (Political), was also present at the meeting, further underlining the importance of educational and diplomatic collaboration between Bangladesh and Malaysia.
