Bangladesh-Japan joint public-private partnership meeting held in Tokyo

‘Seventh Bangladesh-Japan Joint Public Private Partnership’ meeting was held in Tokyo on Tuesday (11 March 2025).

The Bangladesh delegation was led by Principal Secretary to the Chief Advisor M Siraz Uddin Miah. The Japanese delegation included Japan’s Vice Minister for Land, Infrastructure and Transport Hirofumi Amakawa and Assistant Vice Minister for Engineering and Housing Yosuke Tsutsumi.

The participants discussed the progress of the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport Terminal -3 project, Chittagong Sewerage Project, Local Bridge Development project, and Kamalapur Multi-modal Transport Hub project being implemented with Japanese assistance.

Principal Secretary M Siraz Uddin Miah urged everyone to translate the results of the discussions into reality. He expressed hope that if the projects undertaken with Japanese assistance are implemented properly, they will make a positive contribution to the country’s economy. He thanked the Japanese government for providing assistance in various sectors including infrastructure development in Bangladesh and hoped that such assistance will continue in the future.

In the discussion phase, Senior Secretary of the Road Transport and Highways Division, Secretary of Civil Aviation and Tourism, Railways Secretary, Chief Executive Officer of the Public Private Partnership Authority and Superintendent Engineer of Chittagong WASA presented power point presentations on the projects being implemented in their respective fields.

In the second phase of the meeting, Bangladesh Ambassador to Japan Md. Daud Ali and Japanese Ambassador to Bangladesh Saida Shinichi joined the discussion. In this phase, a detailed discussion was held on preparing a list of potential projects that can be implemented with Japanese assistance.

Secretary of Bridge Division, Representatives of Chittagong Port Authority, Payra Port Authority, Narayanganj City Corporation and Roads and Highways Department participated in the discussion online.

Officials of the Bangladesh Embassy were present in the discussion.
