Bangladesh-Iran bilateral relations can be further strengthened through trade and scientific cooperation: Iranian Ambassador

Diplomatic Desk:

Iranian Ambassador to Bangladesh Jalil Rahimi Jahnabadi organized a special program at Hotel Sheraton in Dhaka on Sunday to celebrate the 47th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution.

Ambassadors, diplomats, political figures, retired military officers and high-ranking government officials from different countries participated in the program.

The program began with the recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by the rendition of the national anthems of Bangladesh and Iran to honor both countries.

Brigadier General (Retd) Dr. M. Sakhawat, who is currently the Advisor to the Ministry of Labor and Employment and the Ministry of Shipping, was present as the state guest.

Iranian Ambassador Jalil Rahimi Jahnabadi said at the event, “Iran is a country with an ancient civilization and a rich heritage of knowledge. Iran has always been steadfast on the path of progress by maintaining balanced and constructive ties in the regional and international arenas. Our two friendly countries, Iran and Bangladesh, have maintained long-standing relations based on mutual respect and common interests.”

He further noted, “Our bilateral relations can be further strengthened if we can increase cooperation in various fields including trade, investment, energy, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, transport and logistics, higher education, scientific research and emerging technologies. We are able to present our achievements on the international stage by utilizing self-reliance, innovation and skilled human resources.”

Advisor Dr. Dr. M. Sakhawat said, “The celebration of the 47th anniversary of Iran’s Islamic Revolution is a powerful testimony to the historical and cultural ties between our two countries. The influence of Persian language and culture is deeply rooted in South Asia, especially in Bengal. The people of Bangladesh deeply respect Iran’s history, culture and humanitarian contributions.”

Dr. M. Sakhawat also said, “Bangladesh and Iran have been working as partners in various international and regional forums, such as the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the D-8 Economic Cooperation. Our relations will continue to be based on deep friendship and mutual understanding.”
