Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi Celebrates 54th Armed Forces Day

The Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi celebrated the 54th Armed Forces Day on Monday, 24 November 2025. The event was attended by Lt. General Manish Luthra, DG (MO) ADGPI – Indian Army, as the Chief Guest. He described the bilateral relationship between Bangladesh and India as “truly remarkable and exemplary” and highlighted the unwavering support of the peoples of both nations in times of need.

High Commissioner of Bangladesh, Ambassador M. Riaz Hamidullah, paid tribute to the heroes of the Bangladesh Liberation War and acknowledged the support and sacrifices of many in India who stood by millions of Bangladeshis during times of distress and hardship. He emphasized the multi-layered friendship between Bangladesh and India, shaped by a shared history, culture, and geography, noting that the relationship is deeply rooted in mutual trust and respect.

Welcoming the guests, Defence Adviser of the Bangladesh High Commission, Brigadier General Md Hafizur Rahman, reflected on the multifaceted roles of the Bangladesh Armed Forces in independent Bangladesh and their contributions to peace and security worldwide.

The celebration was attended by 1971 War veterans, government officials, senior military officers, diplomats, members of civil society, and media representatives. The event served as a significant platform to strengthen and honor the enduring friendship and cooperation between the two nations.
