Bangladesh Embassy, ​​Rabat Launches e-Passport Service

The Bangladesh Embassy, ​​Rabat launched the e-Passport service on Saturday (20 September 2025). The inauguration ceremony, chaired by Ms. Sadia Faizunnesa, Ambassador of Bangladesh Embassy in Morocco, was attended by the Honorable Director General of the Department of Passports and Immigration, Major General Md. Nurul Anwar, as the chief guest. The Honorable Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Mohammad Abu Naeem, and the Deputy Director of the e-Passport Project, Lt. Col. Mohammad Faisal, were present as special guests.

In his speech as the chief guest, the Honorable Director General, Major General Md. Nurul Anwar, informed all the attendees about the various steps taken by the Department of Passports and Immigration to resolve various passport-related issues of expatriate Bangladeshi citizens. He also informed everyone about the various activities implemented to improve the quality of overall passport services and create a positive attitude towards the Department of Passports and Immigration among all. Later, in the question and answer session, members of the expatriate Bangladeshi community spontaneously participated and welcomed this step of the government in providing e-passport services to the expatriates.

In his speech, the Ambassador thanked the Department of Passports and Immigration for the active role in providing e-passport services to the expatriates under the guidance of the Honorable Chief Advisor. He said that the launch of e-passport has opened a new horizon for providing modern, safe and effective services to the expatriate Bangladeshis. In addition to Morocco, the Bangladesh Embassy, ​​Rabat is also performing its duties with sincerity and dedication despite limited manpower for Ghana, Guinea, Senegal and Sierra Leone. The Embassy is not only committed to developing bilateral relations, but also to ensuring the welfare of the expatriates and carrying out consular activities effectively. He further emphasized that despite the geographical distance of different cities in Morocco, the complexity of undocumented expatriates and the multifaceted challenges, the Embassy will continue to make every effort to resolve various issues including providing consular services.

With the inauguration of the e-passport service as the 64th mission, Bangladeshi expatriates living in Morocco and the countries under the Embassy’s jurisdiction will now have the opportunity to receive better, faster and safer consular services.
