Diplomatic Desk:
Bangladesh and Australia are working together to accelerate Bangladesh’s transition toward clean energy and electrification. To this end, a high-level trade delegation—comprising representatives from various Australian clean energy organizations—recently visited Bangladesh. During the visit, discussions were held on expanding cooperation in renewable energy, technology exchange, investment, and commercial partnerships between the two nations.

Organized by the Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade), the visit included meetings between the delegation and Bangladeshi government officials as well as industry leaders. Discussions also focused on forging new partnerships with businesses in Bangladesh.
Potential areas for collaboration include battery energy storage, solar photovoltaic (PV) technology, electrical engineering, and charging infrastructure for electric vehicles (EVs). Australia’s technical expertise and investment in these sectors could create new opportunities for the development of Bangladesh’s clean energy landscape.
Meanwhile, the Australian High Commission and Austrade have jointly released a new scoping study titled “Unlocking Bangladesh-Australia Renewable Energy Partnership Potential.” The study highlights investment opportunities within Bangladesh’s renewable energy sector and outlines the policy frameworks necessary for its growth.
The objective of the study is to identify the potential for a renewable energy partnership between the two countries and to facilitate the expansion of cooperation aimed at strengthening Bangladesh’s energy security.
