Arafat Rahman Coco Memorial Football Tournament Finals Held in Gafargaon

The final game of the ‘Arafat Rahman Coco Memorial Football Tournament’ was held in Gafargaon, Mymensingh amidst great enthusiasm. The game was held on Thursday (May 14, 2026) at the Kandirpara Askar Ali High School ground under the chairmanship of Mymensingh-10 MP Mohammad Akhtaruzzaman. MP Zakir Hossain Babul and MP Fakhr Uddin Ahmed Bachchu were present as special guests.

In his speech as the chief guest, State Minister Md. Aminul Haque said that the Prime Minister has taken various groundbreaking steps to advance football, including providing sports allowances and sports cards. He said that the government will take responsibility for the education and sports of grassroots talents in 64 districts of the country through the ‘New Bud Sports’ program. Besides, the work of building playgrounds in every union and upazila of the country to encourage future generations to play sports is underway.

After the speech, the State Minister handed over the prizes to the winners. Earlier, he visited the proposed stadium site on the banks of the Brahmaputra River in Gafargaon and the Gafargaon Upazila Mini Stadium. Local administration, political leaders and media personnel were present at the event.
