Ansar will be developed as a professional force: Home Affairs Adviser

Interior Adviser Lt. Gen. Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (Retd.) said, Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defense Force will be developed as an efficient, well-organized, professional and timely force through reforms. For this purpose, whatever needs to be done will be done by the Ministry of Home Affairs.

The advisor said this while addressing the chief guest at the closing parade of the 40th BCS (Ansar) cadre officers and 25th batch (male) recruit sepoys of the Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defense Force at the Bangladesh Ansar and VDP Academy in Safipur, Gazipur this morning on Wednesday (September 18, 2024).

The advisor said, starting from the historical context of the creation of Bangladesh and after the independence, the members of the Ansar forces have come forward with deep patriotism and played an important role in the overall development of the country including maintaining law and order. He said that this force is playing a special role in the security of important installations of the country, including the protection of diplomatic areas.

Home Affairs Advisor Lt. Gen. Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (Retd.) said that after the fall of the dictatorial government through the anti-discrimination student movement, members of Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defense Force risked their lives to protect important facilities including police stations, traffic, and airports. Members of the Ansar Guard Battalion in particular have ensured the internal security of DMP Police Stations and are engaged in the security of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. The advisor said that with the assumption of responsibility by the present government, the members of the Ansar Guard Battalion are performing their duties bravely in the Rashtriya Guest House Yamuna despite the lack of police force. He expressed sincere thanks and gratitude to all the members of the force for playing a brave role in the urgent need of the nation.

The advisor said that the voluntary VDP members spread in every village in Bangladesh have also played a major role in maintaining peace and order in the country. The VDP members have played a commendable role in solving the social security crisis that has emerged in villages in the recent past. He said that VDP members stood in front of those who wanted to spread the poison of communalism by attacking temples, churches and churches. They also contributed to maintaining harmony among the minority communities by guarding religious places of worship. The advisor expressed hope that in the future, VDP members will contribute more to the country’s socio-economic development and social security by being well organized in the role of youth-based volunteers.

The senior secretary of the public security department of the Ministry of Home Affairs was present as a special guest at the event. Mohammad Abdul Momen and Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defense Force Director General Major General Abdul Motaleb Sajjad Mahmud.

Adviser took the salute at the closing parade of basic training and distributed prizes among meritorious trainees.
