Ansar force to be further trained and used for country’s development – Home Affairs Advisor

Home Affairs Advisor Lieutenant General Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (retd.) said that the current number of Ansar-VDP members in the country is about 6.1 million. This large Ansar force will be further trained and used for the country’s socio-economic development. Their training is also being diversified. Everyone will be trained in various work-oriented trades, including basic weapons training. Through this, it will be possible to properly utilize them in the country’s crisis times in addition to self-employment. In this regard, the National Skill Development Authority, Bangladesh Industrial Technical Assistance Center (BITAC) and various skill development training centers are being taken for assistance.

The advisor said these things while briefing journalists after exchanging views with senior officers of the force at the Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defense Force headquarters in Khilgaon in the capital on Wednesday (January 15, 2025) morning.

The advisor said, Ansar members play a key role in any crisis and disaster of the state. Ansar members are always striving to serve the country, including providing assistance in maintaining law and order, fulfilling electoral duties, and protecting KPI installations. He said, there is some lack of facilities and benefits for Ansar members. We are trying our best to resolve them. The rest system, where incorporated Ansars had to go on a rest for 6 months or become unemployed after 3 years of service, has been canceled.

Thanking journalists for their strong role in preventing Indian media propaganda, Lieutenant General Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (Retd.) said, our neighboring country used to talk a lot of nonsense or spread propaganda about us. He said, you have given a good response to the Indian media propaganda by presenting accurate news. Their propaganda has largely stopped due to your correct and timely role. For that, I express my gratitude to you. The advisor requested the journalists present at this time to be more focused on investigative journalism. He also commented that if this can be done, it will be beneficial for the country and the people.

Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defense Force Director General Major General Abdul Motaleb Sajjad Mahmud PSC was present during the briefing for journalists.
