The World Bank will give 1 billion dollars to reform the financial sector

Online Desk:

The World Bank will provide loan assistance of about 1 billion dollars to reform the financial sector of Bangladesh, which has been fragile for the last 15 years due to one after another irregularity.

On Sunday (September 15), Central Bank Executive Director and Spokesperson Husnay Ara Shikha told the media this information.

Husne Ara Shikha said that the World Bank will provide 100 million or 1 billion dollars in loan assistance to Bangladesh, out of which 750 million dollars will be given as policy based loan and 250 million dollars will be given as investment loan and guarantee facility.

He said that this loan is expected to be approved by the World Bank board by next December, but Bangladesh has to fulfill three conditions to get this loan.

Bangladesh Bank has said that the condition of setting up an asset management company in the private sector, redefining defaulted loans according to international standards, and presenting the report of the audit firm of the newly formed task force to the World Bank must be accepted.
