Sammilito Parishad promises to unite everyone at BGMEA candidate identification meeting

The third day of the candidate identification meeting under the supervision of the BGMEA Election Board on the occasion of the upcoming BGMEA elections 2025-2027 was held on Monday (May 26, 2025) at the auditorium of the Uttara BGMEA Complex in the capital. Candidates from the Sammilito Parishad of Dhaka and Chittagong regions participated in the meeting organized on Monday. The program was moderated by Mostazirul Shovon Islam.

The meeting was presided over by BGMEA Election Board Chairman and former BCIC Chairman Mohammad Iqbal. In his speech, he thanked all the candidates and sought everyone’s cooperation to maintain a fair and impartial environment for the elections.

Abul Kalam, panel leader of the Sammilito Parishad and Managing Director of Chaiti Group, officially announced the manifesto at the meeting. He said, “The garment sector, which exports $12,000 a year, is today the world’s second largest exporter. If I win the election, I will work to restore the confidence of buyers. Currently, the garment sector is facing various challenges, but these problems can be overcome if we work together.”

Speaking as the chief guest, newly elected BKMEA President Mohammad Hatem said, “After the election, we all have to remain united, forget the differences of parties or groups and work together in the interest of the industry.”

Former BGMEA President Qutubuddin Ahmed called for the government to take initiatives for domestic entrepreneurs as well as the foreign investment conference.

Chief Election Coordinator and former BGMEA President Faruk Hasan, along with candidates from Dhaka and Chittagong regions of the Sammilit Parishad (ballot numbers 36 to 70), were present at the meeting.

The candidates for the Sammilit Parishad from Dhaka region are: Faruk Hasan (Giant Textiles Limited), Khandaker Rafiqul Islam (Designex Knitwear Limited), Abdullah Hill Rakib (4A Yarn Dyeing Limited), Asif Ashraf (Urmi Garments Limited), Md. Mashiul Azam (Pashmi Sweaters Limited), Mostazirul Shovon Islam (Sparrow Apparels Limited), Md. Ashikur Rahman Tuhin (Meix Garments Limited), Firoz Alam (Tusuka Apparels Limited), Md. Nurul Islam (B2B Excellence Limited), Sayeed Sadek Ahmed (Space Sweaters Limited), Md. Sohel Sadat (Shin Shin Apparels Limited), Md. Shahadat Hossain (Fortis Garments Limited), Md. Mohiuddin Rubel (Denim Expert Limited), Md. Rezaul Alam Miru (Galpex Limited), Abrar Hossain Sayem (Saym Fashions Limited), Mohammad Kamal Uddin (Tork Fashions Limited), Saifuddin Siddiqui Sagar (TMS Fashions Limited), Tamanna Farrukh Thema (BC Collection Limited), Mirza Fayyaz Hossain (Apparels Village Limited), Helal Uddin Ahmed (Denim Attire Limited), Lithe Muntaha Mohiuddin (Lithe Apparels Limited), AKM Azimul Hai (Jovian Sweater Limited), Manjurul Faisal Haque (Tech Max Limited), S. M. Moniruzzaman (Mimo Cotton Zone Textile Limited), Mohammad Rashedur Rahman (Puliman Knitwear Pvt. Limited).

The candidates from Chittagong region are:
Rakibul Alam Chowdhury (HKC Apparels Limited), Mohammad Musa (Madina Garments Limited), Anjan Shekhar Das (R.S.B Industrial Limited), Nafid Nabi (BSA Apparels Limited), Syed Mohammad Tanvir (Pacific Jeans Limited), Mustafa Sarwar Riyad (RDM Apparels Limited), Dr. Absar Hossain (Top Star Fashions Limited), Gazi Md. Shahid Ullah (Sonet Textile Industries Limited).

Also present at the meeting were former BGMEA president and president of the Sammilit Parishad Kazi Moniruzzaman, former presidents SM Fazlul Haque, Qutubuddin Ahmed, newly elected president of BKMEA Mohammad Hatem, top leaders of the garment industry and members of the election board.
