Home Affairs Advisor Lieutenant General Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (Retd.) said that a high-powered investigation committee is being formed in the incident of fire in building number 7 of the Secretariat.
The adviser told reporters at a press conference at the secretariat after visiting the scene at 9 a.m. on Thursday (December 26, 2024).

The advisor said that the fire broke out on the 6th floor of the building number 7 of the secretariat and spread upwards. At approximately 1:50 PM, fire broke out on the sixth floor of building number 7. The fire service was informed at 1:52 p.m. They started their work from 1:54. The fire came under complete control at 8:05 am.
The Home Affairs Adviser said that a firefighter was crushed to death by a truck while crossing the road in front of the Secretariat with a pipe to control the fire.
