A two-member delegation from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) of the United States paid a courtesy call on Bangladesh Police Inspector General (IGP) Md. Ali Hossain Fakir.

The FBI delegation, led by Riley Palmertree, met with the IGP at the Police Headquarters on Monday (August 3). During the meeting, various issues related to enhancing the cyber capacity of Bangladesh Police, combating cyber scams and financial crimes, social media monitoring, and cooperation in technology-based investigations were discussed.
During the meeting, the head of the FBI delegation discussed providing necessary cooperation to further strengthen the cyber capacity of Bangladesh Police. Emphasis was placed on exchanging mutual experiences and skills in combating cyber fraud, financial crimes, and crimes related to misuse of technology.
IGP Md. Ali Hossain Fakir emphasized on further strengthening the mutual cooperation and relationship between the FBI and various units of the Bangladesh Police. He called for the FBI to continue its cooperation in enhancing the capacity of various units of the Bangladesh Police, including the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI), Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Anti-Terrorism Unit (ATU) and Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC).
In addition, the IGP also emphasized on further increasing the FBI’s cooperation in preventing rumors, fraud and criminal activities on social media.
Senior officials of the Bangladesh Police were present in the meeting held in a cordial atmosphere.
