Desk Report:
A high-level delegation of the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS), led by UNOPS Bangladesh and Bhutan Country Manager Sudhir Muralidharan, paid a courtesy call on the Acting Speaker of the National Parliament of Bangladesh, Barrister Kaiser Kamal, MP.

During the meeting, the delegation handed over a formal invitation to the Acting Speaker to attend the ‘National Promotion Event on SDG Localization’ to be held at the Liberation War Museum in Dhaka on 8 August 2026 as Chief Guest. Acting Speaker Kaiser Kamal accepted the invitation and expressed his gratitude by kindly agreeing to attend the event.
Highlighting the continuity of the country’s overall women’s development in the meeting, the Acting Speaker said that three-time former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia laid a solid foundation for women’s education and political empowerment in Bangladesh. In that continuity, the current Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is also taking timely and far-sighted steps to ensure equality-based good governance and effective and strong leadership, which is completely consistent with the main objectives of these UN SDG projects.
