Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has called on everyone to make the country greener and more environmentally friendly. He especially urged children to plant at least one tree every year.
He made this call as the chief guest at the National Primary Education Medal-2026 presentation ceremony organized at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Center in Agargaon in the capital on Wednesday (July 15).




At the ceremony, the Prime Minister presented awards in 21 categories to students who excelled in national-level poetry recitation, sports, cultural and subject-based quiz competitions. She also presented medals, certificates and honors to the best individuals and institutions selected under the National Primary Education Medal.
During the event, the Prime Minister enjoyed a delightful cultural program presented by children.
Earlier in the morning, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman formally inaugurated the tree planting program in the premises of government primary schools across the country by planting a neem tree sapling with the aim of making every government primary school a ‘green school’.
Later, he inspected various projects invented by children and students on life and nature and inquired about their creative initiatives. He praised the students’ interest and innovative thinking in preserving the environment.
Education Minister Dr. ANM Ehsanul Haque Milon, State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Bobby Hajjaj, Education and Primary and Mass Education Advisor Mahdi Amin, Additional Press Secretary to the Prime Minister Atiqur Rahman Rumon and senior officials of the concerned ministries were present at the event.
