‘Let’s think about what we can do for the country’: PM’s appeal to expatriates

Desk Report:

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has called on expatriate Bangladeshis to play a more active role in the country’s development and progress, saying, “Let’s all think about doing something for the country so that we can all live well together.”

He made the call at a view-sharing meeting with expatriate Bangladeshis held at the Shangri-La Hotel in Kuala Lumpur at 10:30 pm local time on Sunday (June 21).

The Prime Minister said, “I would like to say to the expatriates, let’s think about what our demands are today and what our duties are towards the country.”

She praised the contribution of the expatriates, saying their role in the country’s economy, development and progress is very important. The expatriates are not only strengthening the country’s economy by sending remittances, but are also making an important contribution to brightening Bangladesh’s image in the international arena.

Making a special request to the expatriates on behalf of the countrymen, the Prime Minister said, “Let us think from today, what we can do for the country. Let this be our thought today. I leave this hope to you.”

A large number of expatriate Bangladeshis living in Malaysia participated in the exchange of views. During this time, they presented their opinions, experiences and expectations on various issues to the Prime Minister.
