Speaker of the National Assembly of Bangladesh, Hafiz Uddin Ahmed Bir Bikram, MP, has said that security without accountability can never bring stability to the world in a changing world order. He said that due to the increasing spread of technology, we need to invest in creating new leadership. This will prove our responsibility in building the future of the nation on the one hand and strengthen the trust and confidence of the people on the other.

The Speaker made these remarks while delivering the closing session of the two-day (May 19-20, 2026) international conference on ‘National Security in South Asia in the Context of the New World Order’ organized by the Center for Future Studies of Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP).

The two-day conference was held on the topics of redefining national security in South Asia, transactional multilateralism and regional cooperation, energy security, migration and refugees in South Asia, combating disinformation and misinformation, and regional cooperation in a changing world.

Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed Bir Bikram said that security does not only depend on internal strength. Rather, it also depends on the knowledge, wisdom and stability of international borders acquired by the nation.
The conference featured keynote speakers Dr. Pramod Jaiswal of Nepal, Subhashini Abeysinghe of Sri Lanka, Dr. Salma Malik of Pakistan, and Dr. Greg Simons of Sweden, who exchanged views and conducted research-based constructive discussions on regional and global security challenges.

The speaker thanked the Vice Chancellor of the university and the organizing authorities involved in the event.
The event was attended by the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Major General Md. Mahbub-ul Alam, deans of various faculties, senior officials, teachers, researchers, students and invited guests.
