Barrister Chowdhury Ishraq Ahmed Siddiqui, member secretary of the district BNP, has been appointed as the new administrator of Gazipur District Council.
The appointment was announced in a notification issued by the Local Government Division of the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives on Tuesday (March 31).
The notification states that administrators have been appointed in a total of 14 district councils in the country, including Gazipur. The notification signed by Deputy Secretary of the Local Government Division, Khondaker Farhad Ahmed, states that as per Section 3 of the District Council (Amendment) Ordinance, 2024, the persons appointed under Section 82A-(1) of the District Council Act, 2000 will have to serve as full-time administrators until further orders.
The notification also states that the administrators will exercise the powers and perform the duties of the chairman as per Section 82A(3) of the District Council Act, 2000.
Barrister Chowdhury Ishraq Ahmed Siddiqui is the son of former BNP State Minister Chowdhury Tanvir Ahmed Siddiqui. He is a resident of Kaliakair Upazila of Gazipur.
