Oman’s 54th National Day celebration in Dhaka

A grand celebration was organized on the occasion of the 54th National Day of the Sultanate of Oman at an elite hotel in the capital Dhaka on Monday (18 November, 2024). Eminent personalities from the diplomatic, government and private sectors participated in the event organized by the Oman Embassy in Bangladesh.

Dr. Asif Nazrul, Honorable Advisor of Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs and Expatriate Welfare and Foreign Employment Ministry was present as the chief guest in the event.

Dr. Asif Nazrul extended his hearty congratulations to His Highness Sultan Haitham Bin Tariq of the Sultanate of Oman and said, “We express our deep gratitude to His Highness Mr. Balushi and distinguished members of the Omani Embassy for inviting us to join in celebrating Oman’s remarkable achievements.”

He further said, “A key element of our bilateral cooperation is the employment of the large Bangladeshi workforce in the Sultanate of Oman, which has reached nearly 800,000. Bangladeshi workers are known for their hard work, loyalty and dedication and they are contributing positively to the development of both our economies. We are grateful to Oman for providing employment opportunities to our community.”

“Our shared commitment to sustainable development reflected in Oman’s Vision 2040 and Bangladesh’s development vision underscores the alignment of our aspirations for the future. These visions provide a roadmap to further enhance our economic partnership, with particular emphasis on renewable energy, education and cultural exchange.” he added.

At the beginning of the program, the National Anthem of Oman was played and various aspects of Omani heritage and culture were highlighted.

Referring to Oman’s long-term friendly relations and mutual cooperation with Bangladesh, His Excellency Ambassador of Oman to Bangladesh Abdul Ghaffar Al Balushi said, “Oman and Bangladesh enjoy strong political, economic and cultural common ties. We are two nations that strive to live in peace with our neighbours, we highly value internal harmony and tolerance and we both seek economic growth to ensure the well-being of our people. In such a spirit and context, both sides have worked hard to find synergies within our countries to further the common bonds we enjoy.”

Ambassadors, diplomats and business leaders of various countries participated in the event. Traditional Omani food was served on the occasion and concluded with a short documentary on the country’s history and culture.
