A meeting on formulation of action plan and instructions of Ministry of Women and Children Affairs to implement government’s election manifesto 2026 was held on Sunday (March 29, 2026) under the chairmanship of Minister of Women and Children Affairs Professor Dr. AZM Zahid Hossain in the meeting room of the ministry. The meeting was attended by newly appointed Secretary Yasmin Parveen and officials of departments and organizations.
Minister Professor Dr. AZM Zahid Hossain congratulated and welcomed the newly appointed Secretary of Ministry of Women and Children Affairs Yasmin Parveen. He gave instructions to the concerned to formulate and implement action plans to implement some significant tasks with greater importance as part of the implementation of the current government’s 180-day action plan.
The minister said that one of the government’s priorities is to work with utmost importance to prevent violence against women and drugs. He said that the government will take strict action against any kind of violence against women, including rape, and no concessions will be made in this regard. He gave instructions to work on building a social movement against violence against women by taking special programs to increase public awareness among the people across the country.
He asked the Joyita Foundation to take steps to work on creating women entrepreneurs by emphasizing on increasing employment for women by formulating training-based programs and increasing opportunities in product marketing. He gave instructions to ensure a good environment including strengthening security systems in working women’s hostels, increasing the number of hostel seats and expanding its scope up to the district level. He also felt that it is necessary to pay more attention to the reproductive health of women in rural areas at the marginal level.
The minister emphasized on expanding the scope of Bangladesh Shishu Academy and taking more effective steps for this academy in the mental development of children. He gave instructions to coordinate on what can be done for the development of disabled children.
The Minister directed the concerned to work on adopting an action plan on what can be done to develop day-care centers keeping in mind the issue of caring for the children of working women. He directed to take action on whether it is possible to work in coordination with the National Skill Development Authority by training both men and women in caregiving.
