Bangladesh-China Diplomatic Consultations to be held on April 2-3 to strengthen bilateral relations

Desk Report:

Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen paid a courtesy call on Foreign Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman this morning. Prime Minister’s Foreign Affairs Advisor Humayun Kabir was present at the meeting.

During the meeting, the Chinese Ambassador briefed the Foreign Minister about his upcoming visit to China. He said that Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong will visit Bangladesh on April 2-3, 2026. During the visit, he will lead the Chinese delegation and participate in the 14th Bangladesh-China Diplomatic Consultations.

The consultation is expected to review the overall progress of bilateral relations between Bangladesh and China and discuss new opportunities to enhance cooperation in various areas of mutual interest. During the visit, the Chinese Vice Foreign Minister will also meet with various high-level leaders of Bangladesh.

During the meeting, Foreign Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman gratefully recalled China’s long-standing cooperation and support in Bangladesh’s development journey. He expressed hope that this visit will inject new momentum into Bangladesh-China bilateral relations after the new government takes office.
