Newly appointed US ambassador pays courtesy call on Jamaat Ameer

Ambassador of the US Embassy in Dhaka, Mr. Brent T. Christensen, paid a courtesy call on the Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman.

The meeting was held at the central office of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami in Bashundhara, the capital, at 8:00 am on Thursday (January 29). The ambassador was accompanied by the US Embassy’s Political and Economic Counselor, Mr. Eric Gilman, Public Officer, Ms. Monica L. Sy, Political Officer, Mr. James Stewart, and Political Specialist, Firoz Ahmed.

The meeting was held in a very cordial and cordial atmosphere. The meeting exchanged views on various important issues including the current political and economic situation of Bangladesh, progress in industry and trade, upcoming parliamentary elections, state reform activities and the Rohingya crisis.

At that time, Honorable Ambassador Mr. Brent T. Christensen highly appreciated the positive role of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami in the economic development and democratic progress of Bangladesh. He also expressed hope that the bilateral relations between Bangladesh and the United States will be further strengthened in the future.

During the meeting, the Ameer-e-Jamaat was accompanied by the organization’s Assistant Secretary General and Head of the Central Propaganda and Media Department, Advocate Ehsanul Mahbub Zubair, Central Executive Council Member Md. Mubarak Hossain and Foreign Affairs Advisor to the Ameer-e-Jamaat, Professor Dr. Mahmudul Hasan.
