Army Chief General Waqar-uz-Zaman, SBP, OSP, SGP, PSC, visited Rangpur and Rajshahi to assess the overall law and order situation and inspect the activities of the army personnel deployed under the ‘In Aid to the Civil Power’ on the occasion of the 13th National Parliament Election and Referendum-2026.

On Tuesday (January 27, 2026), the Army Chief observed the activities of the army personnel deployed in the Rangpur and Rajshahi regions on the spot and provided necessary directions in the performance of their duties. During this time, he exchanged views with senior officials of the concerned civil administration and law enforcement agencies.
During the visit, the Army Chief exchanged views with senior military officers, divisional and district administration officials and representatives of various law enforcement agencies in a meeting organized at the Rangpur Circuit House. Later, another similar exchange meeting was held at the Infantry Regimental Center (BIRC) in Rajshahi.

In the exchange meetings, detailed discussions were held on inter-institutional coordination, overall security management and strategies for carrying out duties to ensure a peaceful, impartial and fair conduct of the upcoming national elections and referendum. During this time, the Army Chief laid special emphasis on professionalism, impartiality, discipline, patience and citizen-friendly behavior in the performance of duties.
During the visit to Rangpur and Rajshahi, General Officer Commanding (GOC), Army Training and Doctrine Command; GOC, 66 Infantry Division and Area Commander, Rangpur Area; GOC, 11 Infantry Division and Area Commander, Bogra Area; Senior military officers from the Army Headquarters, Rangpur and Bogra areas were present.
