Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus has stressed on creating a system free of brokers and fraud in sending workers abroad.
Professor Yunus said this at a program organized at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital on Wednesday (December 17, 2025) on the occasion of International Migrants Day and National Expatriates Day-2025.
He commented that a deep and complex crisis has arisen in Bangladesh’s foreign employment due to institutional brokering, document fraud and structural weaknesses.
The Chief Adviser stressed on creating a system free of brokers and fraud to overcome this situation.
He said that going abroad today is dangerously intertwined with brokers and fraud. Until this situation is freed, there is no reason to think that meaningful progress has been made.
Referring to the various initiatives taken by the government to resolve the long-standing crisis of expatriate employment, the chief advisor said that despite the government’s sincere efforts, the level of success that was supposed to be achieved has not yet been achieved.
He said that although many initiatives seem quite attractive and important from the outside, the government has not yet been able to penetrate the core structure of the broker-controlled system.
