The mutual repatriation of Bangladeshi and Indian fishermen detained in each other’s waters was successfully completed on Tuesday (09 December 2025) afternoon. The exchange took place in the Bay of Bengal along the international maritime boundary between the two countries.

As part of the exchange, the Indian Coast Guard returned a Bangladesh-owned fishing boat, and the Bangladesh Coast Guard handed over three India-owned fishing boats.
