Bangladesh-Malaysia unveil new investment potential in semiconductor sector

The three-day Bangladesh Semiconductor Roadshow “BSIA Roadshow 2025” has been successfully concluded in Penang, Malaysia. The event, held from 11-13 November 2025, aimed to showcase the progress, capabilities and future investment potential of the semiconductor industry of Bangladesh to the Malaysian government and industry. The event, organized by the Bangladesh Semiconductor Industry Association (BSIA), was inaugurated by Mr. Jagdeep Singh Deo, Deputy Chief Minister of Penang State. Bangladesh High Commissioner to Malaysia, Manjurul Karim Khan Chowdhury, was present as the special guest.

In the inaugural session, Dr. Mustafa Hussain, Professor of Purdue University, USA, gave an important presentation on the current status of the semiconductor industry in Bangladesh, future plans and opportunities for technical and industrial cooperation between Bangladesh and Malaysia. The event was attended by Malaysian government officials, industry entrepreneurs, representatives of important semiconductor manufacturers, and Bangladeshi engineers working in various companies in Penang.

Six Bangladeshi semiconductor companies—Neural Semiconductor, ULKASEMI Private Limited, iTest Bangladesh Limited, Prime Silicon, Cactus Materials Ltd, and SILICONOVA Limited—presented their progress, technological capabilities, and position in the international market. This created a positive perception in the Malaysian industry about the potential of the semiconductor sector in Bangladesh.

As part of the roadshow, a 15-member delegation from BSIA visited various semiconductor industry companies in Penang from November 12-13 and exchanged experiences. The relevant departments hope that the roadshow will play a major role in expanding bilateral cooperation, investment, and technological partnerships between Bangladesh and Malaysia, especially in the areas of semiconductor industry development, human resource development, and technology transfer.
