World Bank supports women-led SMEs to connect with big buyers

The Buyer–Supplier Summit 2025, organized by SME Foundation and We-Fi, in collaboration with the World Bank, was successfully held. The summit connected small and medium enterprises (SMEs) with buyers, suppliers and financial institutions.

More than 40 corporate organizations visited the products of women-led businesses at the summit and expressed strong interest in them.

Adviser to the Ministry of Industries Adilur Rahman Khan, who was present at the event, appreciated such initiatives and highlighted the important efforts to bridge the market gap for small entrepreneurs.

Jean Pesme, Director of the World Bank’s Bangladesh and Bhutan Division, said, “Such initiatives are very important for job creation, especially for women, and for increasing export earnings. Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) contribute about 30% to the economy in Bangladesh.”

The World Bank is supporting SMEs through financing, capacity building, networking, and product knowledge, which opens up avenues for entrepreneurs to access large and profitable markets.

This summit has opened up new opportunities for small and medium entrepreneurs to build stronger market and buyer connections.
