Government will provide all kinds of support to develop semiconductor industry in Bangladesh: Commerce Advisor

Leaders of Bangladesh Semiconductor Industry Association (BSIA) paid a courtesy call on Commerce Advisor Sheikh Bashir Uddin at the Ministry of Commerce on Tuesday (August 26, 2025).

The delegation led by BSIA President M. A. Jabbar was attended by Senior Vice President M. E. Chowdhury Shamim, Directors Kamrul Ahsan Dewanji, Munir Ahmed, Ashikur Rahman Tanim and Senior Advisor Enayetur Rahman.

During the meeting, President M. A. Jabbar highlighted the current status, prospects and challenges of the country’s semiconductor industry. He said that the industry is developing rapidly and is creating significant employment opportunities for the increasing number of graduates from the departments of Computer Science and Electrical and Electronic Engineering in the country.

He further noted that by 2030, the global semiconductor market will be worth $1.3 trillion, creating a demand for more than one million skilled professionals.

Commerce Advisor Sheikh Bashir Uddin welcomed the BSIA leaders’ proposal and said that it is essential to formulate a realistic and comprehensive action plan to advance the semiconductor industry. He assured the government’s all-out policy support for the development of the industry and said that new opportunities will be created for the youth around this sector, which will further accelerate the country’s economy.
