Nationwide National Policy Competition Launched to Increase Youth Participation in State Decision-Making Process

The Ministry of Youth and Sports has launched the National Policy Competition 2025 to ensure active participation of youth in the state decision-making process. Students from 9 universities and 1 medical college of the country are participating in this competition.

In this competition held in two phases, students will submit concept papers in the first phase. The selected contestants based on the set criteria will formulate a full policy paper in the second phase. In the next phase, each university will organize a final phase separately, where the selected students will present their policy papers. The policy proposals of the winning students from this competition, organized around a specific topic in each institution, will be implemented at the government level based on their acceptability.

The topics of the competition include: Youth participation in politics and the future of democracy; What youth can do to counter rumors and Bangladesh’s global image; Peacebuilding and cultural connections in South Asia: The role of Bangladeshi youth in the post-July coup; Bangladesh’s transition from LDC: Utilizing opportunities and preparing to face new challenges; Bangladesh’s foreign policy after July: Redefining national interests and global relations; Towards achieving universal healthcare: Restructuring Bangladesh’s health system and necessary steps; Building a new Bangladesh: Transforming education and skills; The July Uprising and Constitutional Reorganization: The Bangladesh of youth’s aspirations; The Fourth Industrial Revolution: Bangladesh’s innovative potential and application areas; and Agriculture, rivers and the trajectory of development: Rediscovering the Bengal Delta.

Youth participation is essential in every aspect of state governance, from policy formulation to implementation. In order to bring about the desired long-term changes, it is necessary to include the mindset, research-oriented thinking and innovative capacity of young people in the policy-making process. The National Policy Competition 2025 is going to usher in a new change through that inclusion.
