Participating in a special meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, Bangladesh Government’s Foreign Affairs Adviser Md. Towhid Hossain said, “Now is the time to take practical steps to stop Israel’s military aggression and genocide against the Palestinian people.”
In his speech at a special meeting of OIC Foreign Ministers on Monday (August 25, 2025), he said that moral and legal obligations must now be converted into an effective action plan. He also commented that the recent indication of recognition of the Palestinian state by some Western countries can at least be considered as recognition of the crimes against humanity committed by the Israeli occupation forces.
Foreign Affairs Adviser Towhid Hossain reiterated Bangladesh’s unwavering support for the just struggle of the Palestinian people to achieve their right to self-determination and independence. He called for an immediate permanent ceasefire, unhindered access for humanitarian aid to Gaza, and a credible and irreversible path to a two-state solution based on the 1967 borders.
He also said that the government and people of Bangladesh will unconditionally support any initiative from the OIC or the Muslim Ummah for the liberation of Palestine.
